POTTY Time

I thought potty training was a dirty word, mostly because I had had no success with Michael. I wanted to have him potty trained before Kelli was born. Didn't happen. I wanted to have him potty trained before he turned 3. He turned 3 in November. Didn't happen. I wanted to have him potty trained before he went to Primary at the beginning of the year. Didn't happen. People told me to be patient and when he was ready, it would happen. THEY WERE RIGHT. Last Tuesday (two days after his first Sunday in Primary) Michael woke up and told me that his diaper was hurting him and he didn't want to wear it anymore. I told him that if he didn't want to wear his diaper he had to wear underwear. He said okay. I told him if he wore underwear he had to go potty in the toilet. He said okay. So I said okay and put him in underwear. We had a few accidents in the morning, but later that night he actually did it! He was so excited and kept saying, "Mom, I'm doing it! Mom, look its coming!" I was so proud. We called Daddy.

Michael loves stickers, so I made him a Potty Chart. Each time he goes potty in the toilet he gets to put a sticker on his chart. When all the squares on his chart have a sticker, Michael will get a new toy. Mitch and I decided to put 100 squares on the chart, thinking that it would take about a month for him to fill it up...well it has only been a week and this is what his chart looks like.

Exactly 50 stickers. He is half-way there and it has only been a week! And there are more now. (I took this picture two days ago). He has only had a few accidents and he is even going #2 in the toilet now too! (He gets three stickers for that.) I am one VERY HAPPY and proud Mom.
